"FABINHO and MARCONE" WORKSHOP
Main objective

To teach teenagers professional skills so that they can get the possibility to find a job and consequently to contribute to their family's socio-economic improvement. To help them to find self-confidence and human dignity, to make them rediscover individual action through citizenship which will make them feel as a true social part of the community they belong to.

To get teenagers to feel conscious of their bent for a specific job and to give them the chance to try different paths.

To establish cooperation links with local entrepreneurs so that teenagers can work in their firms for short periods. In this way they could acquire professional skills and experience which might later result in a job contract.

Project description

Supported by the Ivrea Diocese, Fabinho & Marcone Professional Workshop is taking care of up to 45 teenagers between the ages of 16 and 18 and is located in Villa Amorim quarter.

This project is aimed at all teenagers found in a social risk situation and coming from Cata-Vento and "Lar" House Joel. This project, which will be carried out in a sound and effective manner, can be of great importance for the formation, social integration and protection of children and teenagers victims of the road and of social exclusion.

The teenagers who are assisted in the Workshop mainly belong to non-caring families and some of them have been sent by the Conselho Tutelar. The educational staff is made up by six people who give advice and take teenagers to the various professional activities - either theory lessons or work sessions - which are offered by the Workshop. At present competition in getting a job is very strong and it is hard to find one without specific skills and know-how.

The Professional School gives these teenagers the opportunity to find out their bent for a certain job and some Italian volunteers in Barreiras can teach them theory about the work they are doing and help them to understand clearly the work process in progress. Moreover teenagers do not only take part in strictly professional activities but they also get social formation in sharing the community life.

Individual skills are often highlighted through handicrafts.
